This will mark the third attempt at a television series based on the world of Cruel Intentions (1999)
Narrative
After being bullied at their elite college, half-siblings Caroline and Lucien try to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The direct-to-video sequel Cruel Intentions 2 (2000), starring Amy Adams as Kathryn Merteuil, was originally a scripted TV series before being re-edited into a feature film. Gellar would later reprise her role as Kathryn in 2016 for the NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to series.
It follows Cruel Intentions (1999)
I just finished watching all 8 episodes of the TV series Cruel Intentions and it was very cruel to watch. Positives for Cruel Intentions (2024-): Sarah Catherine Hook does a decent job with her portrayal of Caroline Merteuil in this series and I hope she gets more work in other films and shows. The show is well-made and looks nice.
That’s about it for the positives
Negatives for Cruel Intentions (2024-): Everything else in this series is absolute trash that should be burned in the dumpster. The stories in this show could have been really interesting, but they end up falling flat in execution. I didn’t care for the other characters in this series and I’ve already forgotten most of them.
Overall, Cruel Intentions (2024-) is a boring attempt to update the story from the 1999 movie with new ideas and it failed miserably
I understand why they couldn’t do the things that were done in the original 1999 movie, but what we have in this series is not good at all. And, finally, the finale ends with none of the plot lines being resolved at all or I think that happened, you know what, who cares. I wouldn’t be surprised if this series gets canceled soon and I wouldn’t be sad because this series was a waste of time.
