Katie, a freelance video editor in dire need of work, receives a high-paying offer from an anonymous employer to edit a mysterious and strange video. Katie is running out of money and facing eviction, but she happily accepts the job. The video shows the torture and even the killing of people on camera – in fact, it’s just a carefully staged fantasy. But when this first job leads to even more lucrative work and frighteningly realistic films about smells, Katie’s life begins to crumble. Strange figures in her apartment, terrifying nightmares that keep her awake, and a mysterious illness afflicting her cat. Only when Katie finally decides to quit her job, she realizes how cruel her anonymous employer really is and how cruelly she tries to break the contract.
