After the pope dies, his ring (called the Fisherman’s Ring) is indeed removed and destroyed
Narrative
When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with presiding over one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events, electing a new pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundation of the Catholic Church. Many of the actions that Cardinal Lawrence and the other cardinals take during the conclave process in the film are true and accurate to the Catholic faith and centuries-old tradition. The Vatican does indeed make an official announcement that the throne of the Holy See (the governing body of the Catholic Church) is vacant. The papal apartment is indeed closed with red tape and sealed with a wax papal seal.
It is claimed that Allende will be the first African pope
The college of cardinals is indeed sequestered in apartments (called the Domus Sanctae Marthae, or House of Saint Martha in real life) to eat and sleep between votes. Finally, the windows and doors of the Sistine Chapel, where the current elections take place and ballots are cast, are indeed blacked out, closed, and locked to preserve the secrecy of the conclave. The Roman Catholic Church has had three African popes: Victor I (189-199 AD), Miltiades (also known as Melchiades, 311-314 AD), and Gelasius I (492-496 AD). Sister Agnes: Although we sisters are supposed to be invisible, God has nevertheless given us eyes and ears..
But then, unfortunately, the ending came

Allegri: Miserere Performed by Capella Musicale Pontificia Sistina, Massimo Palombella Courtesy of Deutsche Grammophon GMBH Licensed by Universal Music Operations Ltd. I have just returned from the theater after watching "Conclave" a film that I was extremely excited about and thoroughly enjoyed. For most of the film I was so captivated by the magnificent cinematography, the fantastic performances, the great score and the quality of the costume and production design that I was convinced that this should be a 10/10 film.
What will you leave the audience with?
I believe that the ending of a film is the most important part. What is your final statement to them? Well, this film is so contrived, confusing and absurd that every final statement becomes muddled and I left the cinema with a bad taste in my mouth. The ending is so unrealistic that it threatens to destroy every frame of the previous one.
This is done solely to make a statement about the church and shock the audience
Now, this doesn’t ruin the film overall (not for me, anyway), but it unfortunately tarnishes an otherwise excellent film.
